When choosing a new ERP system, GEMÜ Apparatebau GmbH & Co. KG selected that of PSIpenta, a complete ERP solution. The system was also upgraded to use the PSIpenta adaptive module so as to optimise the stock-on-hand levels for inventories of over 180,000 item masters whilst simultaneously shortening delivery times.
GEMÜ's existing IT infrastructure could no longer keep pace with the company's growth. The switch from series manufacturing to make-to-order production and the continual growth in business volumes pushed the system to its limits. Therefore, the executive management looked for a modern ERP system that could depict different production typologies in a flexible manner.
"In the first three months alone, we were able to reduce inventory levels by over one million euro — that represents a stock reduction of 15% for the first and around 25% for the second product groups," Fick said. Collaboration between the user and the system supplier ensured success for all involved. As a result, GEMÜ was able to achieve 20% growth with the same workforce.
