The swift growth of Multitest Elektronische Systeme GmbH meant that the DOS-based PPS system that they had programmed themselves soon reached its technical and functional limits. Jan Feddern, acting project manager and ERP systems team leader at the time, recalled, "Based on previous experiences and the new wishes of all the specialist departments, we drew up quite a demanding requirements specification." The basic prerequisites were reliability and commercial stability of the software provider. The program had to be capable of being implemented in all of the company's subsidiaries. Since customers often request changes from the manufacturing stage right up to just before delivery, the project team demanded that the order bills of material could be displayed extremely flexibly in sufficient production levels.
Following visits to trade fairs and presentations by different software companies, three international providers were shortlisted. Multi-day workshops for various specialist departments in Rosenheim using original data from Multitest finally tipped the balance. The project team and all the departments involved voted unanimously in favour of the complete ERP solution from PSIpenta.
